Taking time out of a busy work schedule to offer a corporate donation is a great way to give back to your community. Philanthropy has become an expected part of doing business, and without healthy communities, healthy businesses cannot exist. Community involvement also helps your company achieve business objectives and has been shown to impact consumer loyalty, employee recruitment and retention, and shareholder investment.

Below you will find information on how your company can become involved in corporate giving.

How To Get Started

  • Combine your goals.
Determine where your staff and corporate volunteer interests overlap with the needs in your community.
  • Develop a program structure.
An employee steering committee can help decide on volunteer activities, organize the project, motivate staff and recognize volunteers.
  • Recognize your company’s volunteers.
Any type of recognition will go a long way, whether you invest in small appreciation gifts or just send out a company-wide email thanking volunteers.
  • Publicize your business’ efforts.
Take photos of your group volunteering and submit them to the local press. Remember to obtain photo releases of everyone!

Corporate Volunteer Projects

Outdoor Activities
Volunteers can pull weeds, plant flowers, edge grass, restore prairie lands or clip shrubs. Create a new garden or revamp an older one. Many non-profits welcome help in sprucing up their grounds.

Host a Party
Your company could host a picnic or party for seniors in an adult day care center. They can help plan games and activities and provide refreshments.

Organize a Food Collection Drive
Your business can host a food collection drive and donate it to your community’s local food pantry. Consider asking employees to bring in food products to participate in a "dress down" day.

Paint the Offices of a Local Charity
Summertime is the perfect time to help an agency work on those much-needed projects to beautify their facilities and grounds. Recruit a group of your employees to assist with labor and material needs.

Be Creative
Enhance the beauty of an agency with a mural painted by your group.
